Prep for coachella

Music

Sub Focus. Pretty good techno. Lots of beats but also some energetic melody. Last Jungle is pretty awesome.

Kasabian - rock band. A little similar to Greenday but a bit more melodic. Pretty nice but could be skipped.

Justice - techno. Some songs are ok but some aren't that great.

Swedish House Mafia - techno with singing. Good stuff! We should definitely go!

Modeselektor - kinda weird trippy, slow techno. Could be good for chilling but can be skipped...

AraabMuzik - also chilled out techno with some nice vocals. I like this better than Modeselektor.

Kaskade - pop, euro, dancy music; Pretty sweet for dancing. We should go.

Nero - really sweet dubstep. We should go.

Explosions in the sky - a very chilled out Rock Band. Will be nice to go to chill out.

Sub focus - a lot of drum and base. I like it a lot!!! We should go.

Booby Tubes

Let's be honest, I didn't get these for their name.  In fact, when I went in search of them to 3 Whole Foods stores, I couldn't bring myself to ask the clerks to help me find "Booby Tubes" and instead I had to refer to them as "...These little pillows...um...to help with breastfeeding...um...filled with flax seeds...the brand is called 'Earth Mama Angel Baby'...have you heard of them?"  Yeah, I know, I should've just ordered them online, but I like immediate gratification.

So the first few days when I wanted to get the milk to flow, I had my husband microwave them to heat them up and put them on a few minutes before feeding the baby.  Pretty quickly I switched to keeping them in the freezer and applying them after feeding the baby to help with engorgement.  I had a lot of milk and a sleepy-not-very-hungry baby, which resulted in a lot of engorgement and I used them quite a bit, especially at night when I would just sleep with them on.

I have no idea what it is about these magical little pillows.  They're flexible and easy to position, and they feel so nice!  I'm not sure if the fact that the seeds are flax has any effect, but whatever it is, I loved mine.

Thank you Aden and Anais

We swaddled our baby for the first...oh 4 months, maybe longer.  Traditional receiving blankets got to be too small within the first 3 weeks.  Aden and Anais to the rescue.  I love these blankets!  They're super soft and get softer with every wash.  They are huge, but thin so you can fold them in half to swaddle a little baby or use the whole thing when the baby gets bigger.  I've also used them as a blanket for the baby to lay on, as a burp cloth, as a sun shade for the stroller, and I don't even know what else.  Basically for the first 6 months I had one attached to me and the baby wherever we went at all times.  We got a lot of use out of ours and yet they never permanently stained or fell apart in any way.  They just kept getting softer and "stretchier."
Now I use them mostly as a sheet in the pack & play, but I strongly recommend them to everyone with a newborn.  I know it's hard to believe, but they actually are worth $10/blanket.

I gave in

Do I really need another source of procrastination?  I guess so.  Or maybe I just want to be cool like everybody else.  Anyway, hello world, this is my blog!
So really I just want a place to rave about my favorite things.  Since I recently acquired a whole crapload of baby stuff, and read a whole crapload and a half of baby-related books, I want to share my thoughts and opinions in one central place so if anybody asks I can just give them the link.  This blog, then, is about my material possessions and my feelings toward them.
